George S.B. Williams, PhD
Dr. Williams has over 15 years of experience performing quantitative measurements and designing computational models. This focus on the quantitative sciences has created 17 peer reviewed publications including 12 as first author and 1 as senior author. Dr. Williams received his quantitative training under the guidance of Drs. Carey K. Bagdassarian and Gregory D. Smith during his graduate and doctoral training at the College of William & Mary. Recently, By combining mathematical modeling with focused experimental tests Dr. Williams has been able to improve the realism of our computational models as well as gain additional insights from experimental findings. Additionally, Dr. Williams has established and maintained numerous collaborations with researchers both local (e.g., Johns Hopkins University) and global (e.g., Göttingen University in Germany). These collaborations have led to new insights into the fields of cardiac calcium homeostasis, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, mitochondrial biology, super resolution imaging, and multi-scale computational modeling.
Dr. Williams also has experience guiding younger researchers having served as mentor or co-mentor to several students including a past MD/PhD student (Andrew P. Wescott). Dr. Williams is a current NIH (NHLBI) K awardee.
